Being a Syracuse alum (‘94), this was one of the most tense and exhilarating moments of my life as a sports fan. A sick first half by freshman Gerry McNamara gave ‘Cuse an 18-point first-half lead against heavily favored Kansas. And we juuust held on, thanks to a monster clutch block from sophomore Hakim Warrick and an all-around solid game from the 2003 NCAA Tournament Most Outstanding Player, this guy right here, freshman Carmelo Anthony.
Now waiting for ‘Melo to take me to the promised land again, this time with my hometown New York Knicks.
