PetaPixel has a nice, little piece on the history behind one of the most famous photographs in American history, “Migrant Mother” by Dorothea Lange.
Included are other images that Lange shot over a 10-minute span in 1936 of 32-year-old Florence Owens Thompson, who was looking after her family in a temporary camp while her husband and two sons went into town for repair of a car.
