Brutal news for NBA fans, as Russell Westbrook joins Kobe Bryant, Derrick Rose and Rajon Rondo in a group of stars who are out of the playoffs with an injury. Westbrook will have surgery to repair cartilage his right knee and is out indefinitely.
The front pages of the Miami Herald, Oklahoman and, yes, the Cleveland Plain Dealer the morning after LeBron James won his first NBA title.
Not too impressed with any of these. The Heat story doesn’t exactly explode off the Miami paper, and I have no idea what’s going on in OKC, where they led with an 88-year-old woman sporting a foam beard.
Adding…: Via Twitter, the Oklahoman informed me that the Thunder loss was documented in a wrap that was not part of Newseum’s morning round-up of today’s front pages. In fact, all of the Finals “front pages” were wraps, a gallery of which you can find here.
Porn stars Sara Jay and Angelina Castro promise BJs to all of their Twitter followers if the Miami Heat win the NBA title, encouraging use of the hashtag #TeamBJNBA.
I’m still rooting for the Thunder.

Wednesday’s dunk of the night: Russell Westbrook’s breakaway tomahawk slam in Oklahomas City’s 99-72 rout at home over the Grizzlies.
Nobody minds when Westbrook takes shots like that. In fact, he attempted only 10 field goals in the victory, 23 fewer than in the triple OT win on Monday night.
Oklahoma City leads the series, 3-2, which continues Friday night in Memphis.
